What Does a Support Coordinator Actually Do?

Support coordination is a funded support within some NDIS plans, designed to help participants understand and use their plan effectively. In practice, this can mean helping you connect with the right providers, understand your funding, and navigate any challenges that come up along the way.
A good support coordinator doesn't just organise services โ they help you build the confidence and knowledge to manage your supports more independently over time. This might include helping you compare providers, understand service agreements, or resolve issues if a particular support isn't working as expected.
Not everyone has support coordination included in their plan, and that's okay โ some participants prefer to manage this themselves, or work directly with providers. If you're unsure whether support coordination would help you, it's worth raising with your planner at your next review.
